I'm an industrial engineer who loves automation. I studied at Galatasaray University in İstanbul, then did a master's at Grenoble INP. My first job was product manager for notebook and desktop computers at Beko. I stayed ten months.
Then, by a series of coincidences, I started a lighting design magazine. I was the editor-in-chief of PLD Türkiye from 2006 to 2018: 66 issues. From 2007 to 2014, I was also the Turkish representative of the PLDA (Professional Lighting Designers' Association). I organised more than 20 events: conferences, workshops, Guerrilla Lighting, light walks. I wrote editorials and spoke at events in Turkey and abroad. When I started, Turkey had no independent lighting design offices. When I stopped, it had more than ten.
In 2014, I co-founded Ağustos Teknoloji to bring innovative lighting brands to Turkey. In a market that looks at price first, we win specification projects through our relationships with lighting designers and architects.
Since 2015, I've also worked as a consultant for lighting manufacturers: first on marketing, then on product data. Today I work with several lighting manufacturers on 4 continents: North America, Australia, Asia and Europe. I help them run their product data from a PIM (Product Information Management): a single source of truth. It's the engineer in me: I find a process that people repeat by hand, and I automate it.
